The monumental and exciting learning opportunity described here as the Sacramento Leadership Experience could now be available to you free of charge! For the May, 2008, session, the $1,600.00 per person registration fee is going to be covered by generous sponsors. One $1,600.00 scholarship is available for each Senatorial District in California. Any interested high school junior or senior in California is eligible to apply for the scholarship available in his/her Senatorial District. The scholarship covers the student's registration fee which pays for all conference sessions, speakers, materials, and facilities, all meals during the conference, and hotel lodging each night at four students to a room. Applications Must be Received by: April 4, 2008
Don't delay. All application materials must be in our office by April 4, 2008, to compete for a scholarship. This is not a postmark date. The application materials must actually be received by April 4th. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The following items must be completed and submitted for a student’s application to be considered.ALL items listed below must be sent in one envelope.Do not send items separately.
1. A completed "Petition to Participate"form with all requested signatures (see details about forms below). 2. Applicant's essay (see specific details below).
3. A computer CD that is PC compatible with a head-and-shoulders photograph of the student applicant in dress attire. The photo must be a .GIF or .JPG computer file.
4. A completed "Consent to Medical Treatment"form with all requested signatures (see details about forms below).
5. One letter of reference (see specific details below).
6. A non-refundable application processing fee of $45.00 – make checks payable to:Excellence in Presentations.
APPLICANT'S ESSAY: The applicant shall write an essay describing why he/she wishes to attend the SLE and how he/she expects to grow and benefit from the experience. The essay must be typewritten, single-spaced, in 12 point Times New Roman font, and is limited to one side of one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" paper.
REFERENCE LETTER: The required letter of reference must be written by a high school teacher or administrator. It must be typewritten on school letterhead and bear the original signature and title of the author. The letter must be submitted inside a sealed school envelope. The writer of the letter is requested to address these specific items: a) the applicant's interest in government and public service; b) the applicant's ability to grow and benefit from this experience; c) the applicant's reliability in terms of appropriate behavior and conduct for attending such an activity; and d) the applicant's character and work ethic.

All spaces that should by filled out online appear on the document as a gray box.Once all gray boxes are completed online, print out the completed form and secure the appropriate signatures before mailing in to Excellence in Presentations. SPECIAL NOTE:The "Consent to Medical Treatment"form must be notarized by a licensed Notary Public.Be certain to complete this task before mailing registration materials.Notary Public’s are usually available at banks, real estate offices, and title insurance companies.They are sometimes also available at mailing centers such as the UPS Store, Fed-Ex Kinkos, etc.Be sure to contact a specific establishment by telephone first and ask if they have a Notary Public on site.Inquire also about the Notary’s hours and availability.The parent or legal guardian of the student wishing to participate must appear before the Notary Public and sign the Medical Consent form in the presence of the Notary.The signing parent or legal guardian will also need to have proof of identity to show the Notary Public.
