"Creating Positive Change with a Touch of Excellence!"
Conferences
Welcome to the Jungle!
This highly active conference shows freshman and/or recent 8th grade graduates how to capture the joy of belonging, the security of positive relationships, and the great fun that can be enjoyed during one’s high school years by learning the five major benefits of being involved in campus activities. Participants will also lay a foundation for success in high school by creating an Individual Personal Plan. This conference is the first step of the ILDP.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Activities presented in this conference assist participants in developing a balanced approach to life by considering the areas of physical, mental, social, and moral development. Participants are stimulated to develop an improved self-concept and respect for others and their abilities. A major session is devoted to examining personal values and moral behaviors. This is followed by a time of practical application where students discover methods for making sound personal behavior choices about alcohol/substance abuse, teen sex and pregnancy, cheating, and violence (among others), while dealing with the peer pressure they face on a daily basis.The conference concludes with an in-depth goal setting session and the creation of action plans. This conference is the second step of the ILDP.
Targeting Leadership
Alright you limey land lovers, ye best be getting ye’rself ready to shake off y’er land legs and get y’er sea legs under ye! In this fun-loving and extremely active leadership development conference students utilize “pirate philosophies” to discover some treasures about providing leadership for groups and organizations. Throughout the voyage students will target essential leadership concepts such as:
the need for leaders to bring order to chaos;
the two primary functions of organization leaders;
the three essential characteristics an organization’s leaders must portray; and
the three principal actions undertaken by organizational leaders.
The latter part of the conference is devoted to helping students develop specific skill sets that assist with communicating an organization’s vision and creating group buy-in, as well as skills for understanding how to work with groups. In the closing session, students will bring together everything learned during the day to create their very own plan of action for implementing their new skills. This curriculum is effectively delivered in a two-day conference format or in one full day long event. This conference is the third step of the ILDP.
In Search of Passionate Leadership
Watch out Inspector Clousseau! Participants in this thrilling and active leadership event will take lessons from famous detectives as they go sleuthing around for significant clues to learn how passionate members of a group or organization can influence the actions of the group. Participants will discover:
who is likely to step up and provide passionate leadership through exerting influence;
why people provide leadership; and
how to use influence to spread passion.
The second part of the conference is devoted to helping students develop specific skill sets that assist with planning and executing quality activities and events for a group or organization, as well as developing pride in an organization. In the closing session, students will bring together everything learned during the day to create their very own “Plan for Passion” to further the implementation of their new skills. This curriculum is effectively delivered in a two-day conference format or in one full day long event. This conference is the fourth and final step of the ILDP.
